Cameron Brae was founded by the late David Hazlett over 50 years ago. He was a man with vision and the determination to make that vision a reality. Supported by an experienced and accomplished team, the Hazlett family continues David’s legacy, by building relationships, creating opportunities, and completing exceptional projects.


We take immense pride in the projects we have completed, and our track record, our reputation, and our commitment to reaching the best outcomes has helped us become one of Sydney’s leaders in the industry.


The Cameron Brae Group has always been structured as a family-owned business. The current leadership team honours the legacy of

David Hazlett while focusing on the group’s future property ventures.


Cameron Brae Board of Directors

The Board of Directors of Cameron Brae is made of the group’s trusted advisors who worked alongside founder David Hazlett and the team before forming the Board.


Collectively the Board understands the needs of this family-owned professional business and provides guidance and decision-making that reflects a commitment by the Hazlett family to incorporate their shared values, alongside their continued stewardship of the family’s capital and legacy.


Before he passed away in 2021, founder David Hazlett put the corporate structure in place to ensure the continuation of the Group’s activities which included the formation of the Cameron Brae Board.


Paul Say, Chairman

Paul Say is the Chairman of the Board and runs his own consulting business. He has over 40 years of experience in commercial and residential asset management, development, and real estate broking with major multinational institutions.


He worked closely with Cameron Brae’s founder David Hazlett to move the Group to a corporate structure and provided strategic advice on issues like governance, direction, and strategy.


Paul holds an Associate Diploma in Real Estate Valuation, Graduate Diploma in Finance & Investment, and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning.

Mary Digiglio

Mary is the Managing Partner of commercial and family law firm, Swaab. In that firm, she also leads a team of property, planning and projects lawyers. In that role, she is the Cameron Brae Group’s chief legal adviser.


In her role as the Group’s legal counsel, she provides advice on day-to-day matters, as well as higher-level strategic input. In 2018, she assisted in the setting up of the Hazlett Family Council which guides the continuation of the legacy of late founder David Hazlett.


Mary is an Accredited Property Law Specialist and holds a Bachelor of Laws, Graduate Certificate of Legal Practice and Advanced Diploma in Conveyancing and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Andrew Hazlett

Andrew has long been with Cameron Brae, exceeding 25 years.


For many years he was a manager in the trading operations of the Group before transitioning to work on the Group's property projects and assets. In his roles, he worked alongside his father in a range of business ventures, so has a thorough understanding of the Group's operations, projects and the property development sector, particularly in the south west of Sydney and the south coast of NSW. Andrew also represents the extended Hazlett family on the Board and echoes the legacy of his late father.


Andrew is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.


Malcolm Katon

Malcolm is a Senior Partner with accounting firm Hancock & Associates and has also been the Cameron Brae Group’s tax advisor for over 30 years.


While providing accounting and taxation services to the Group, he has learnt about the unique requirements of the property development sector, which can be very complex. He has been an instrumental part of the growth of the Cameron Brae Group which is his largest client. He worked closely with David Hazlett and provided advice for his business and personal finances, as well as other Hazlett family members.


Malcolm is a Member of Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand, Registered Tax Agent, and Chartered Tax Advisor (Tax Institute). He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Diploma of Financial Planning.


Simon Basheer

Simon has had a near 40 year career in the property industry holding senior general management positions at Lendlease and prior to that Delfin Limited. He currently runs his own specialist property advisory firm.

 

Simon has been involved in many of Australia’s largest and most successful masterplanned communities in general management, marketing and sales management positions. He has strong expertise in the greenfield, mixed use and apartment market sectors and brings a depth of experience influencing policy and advocacy activities for the advancement of the urban development industry.

 

Simon is a National Past President of the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) and a Past President and Life Member of UDIA NSW. Simon is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAIC) and a licensed Real Estate Agent (NSW).

 

Simon is also a Non-Executive Director of PointData Holdings Pty Ltd.

Cameron Brae Group employs a small tight-knit team of people who recognise the unique qualities of a family-owned professional business and enjoy the challenges of the property development sector.


The Cameron Brae Group team collectively has many years of experience in the property sector, and is focused on creating communities, not just housing. The team recognises the tremendous contribution made by Cameron Brae’s founder David Hazlett and is committed to delivering on his vision and legacy.


Angus Dawson, Chief Executive Officer

Angus took up the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Cameron Brae Group in 2022, after serving on the Board for 12 months, and seeing the great opportunity to deliver on the legacy of founder David Hazlett, to build the culture of strong family values and reaffirming a collective vision that is based on commitment and loyalty.


With over 40 years of experience in property development and construction, Angus has worked as an advisor, director and in executive roles in the private and public sectors in NSW, Queensland and throughout the UK.


Angus holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Building) is a Life member and past President of the New South Wales division of the Urban Development Institute of Australia.

Winton Anton, Chief Operating Officer

Winton Anton has played a key role in the financial management of the Cameron Brae Group for more than 15 years. He joined the group as an accountant and now holds the role of Chief Operating Officer.


While Winton misses the close relationship he had with David, he is determined to fulfil David’s legacy.


Winton closely managed finances in his first 15 years with Cameron Brae. Through careful and prudent financial management he was instrumental in contributing to building of the group.


Originally from Sri Lanka, Winton has a Bachelor of Business, and Masters Degree in Commerce. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia.

Paul Gerlach, General Manager - Development

Paul Gerlach joined the Cameron Brae Group as General Manager Development in July 2023 with the remit to lead the property team for the next phase of Cameron Brae’s development.


Paul is a seasoned Property Executive with a wealth of experience spanning over 25 years in senior property development and business leadership roles. With a strong focus on purpose and values, Paul excels in guiding cross-functional teams through every facet of the property delivery process.


As well as an undergraduate degree in planning and landscape architecture, Paul has an MBA from the prestigious Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM), part of UNSW. Paul's unwavering commitment to "enriching lives through property outcomes" drives his continuous growth and pursuit of excellence.
